چکیده
Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) after early extubation on children undergoing cardiac surgery. Methods: This randomized controlled clinical trial performed among 92 aged 1 24 months surgery from March 5 August 30, 2020, in a pediatric post-cardiac intensive care unit (ICU). patients were receive either HFNC or conventional oxygen therapy extubation. Arterial blood samples collected anesthesia induction, end surgery, at time entering ICU while they intubated, 6 hours ICU, before removing endotracheal tube, immediately extubation, as well 1, 6, 12, 24, and 36 compared regarding PaCO2, PaO2/FiO2 ratios, respiratory failure, need for reintubation, development atelectasis, pneumothorax, pleural effusion, length stay. Results: similar demographic characteristics, duration mechanical ventilation (P > 0.05). On first second days mean modified radiologic atelectasis score (m-RAS) lower group < frequency failure did not differ groups PaCO2 than control 0.001). PaO2/FIO2 ratio significantly higher one hour afterward comparison re-intubation 0.013) stay 0.001) group. Conclusions: It found that could improve parameters reduce postoperative pulmonary complications infants following congenital heart

High-flow nasal oxygen therapy: one more chance for extubation?
Apart from the clinical conditions that require immediate ventilator support, conventional oxygen therapy (COT) via a face mask or nasal cannula is considered the “firststep approach” in the escalating therapy for the management of acute respiratory failure (ARF) to buy time for the etiologic therapy to reverse the triggering cause of the acute decompensation.1 Once physicians realize that only...
متن کاملThe value of high-flow nasal cannula oxygen therapy after extubation in patients with acute respiratory failure
OBJECTIVE To investigate the value of high-flow nasal cannula oxygen therapy after extubation in patients with acute respiratory failure. METHODS A single-center, prospective, randomized, controlled pilot trial was conducted between January 2013 and December 2014. Sixty enrolled patients were randomized immediately after extubation into either a high-flow nasal cannula group (n=30) or an air ...

OBJECTIVE Compare the short-term benefit of high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) with non-rebreathing mask in terms of change in dyspnea, physiologic variables, and patient comfort in subjects after endotracheal extubation. METHODS A randomized crossover study was conducted in a 10-bed respiratory care unit in a university hospital. Seventeen mechanically ventilated subjects were randomized after e...
متن کاملHigh-flow Nasal Cannulae in Very Preterm Infants after Extubation
BACKGROUND The use of high-flow nasal cannulae is an increasingly popular alternative to nasal continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) for noninvasive respiratory support of very preterm infants (gestational age, <32 weeks) after extubation. However, data on the efficacy or safety of such cannulae in this population are lacking. METHODS In this multicenter, randomized, noninferiority trial...
